One minute – if you could heal a child, a school, a community, in just one minute, would you?

Yes? Here’s your chance.

Kohl’s Cares is offering half a million dollars to each of 20 schools, for a total of $10 million.  We are asking you to take one minute of your time to vote for two schools in the Little Haiti area of Miami – Jesse J. McCrary Elementary and Miami Edison Middle – to receive our Art Studio’s healing after-school programs as part of the $500,000 support.

Each voter is allowed FIVE votes per school, so please vote BOTH schools.

Our schools are located in Miami’s impoverished Little Haiti community, where many students are living in extreme poverty, some with no running water or electricity, many unsure of where their next meal will come from or whether they will continue to have a roof over their heads.  A predominantly Haitian community, all students have been heavily affected by the January earthquake in Haiti, many experiencing direct loss.  According to the Cradle to Prison Report, without positive intervention, our students are on the path to prison and the continued cycle of poverty. Yet there is hope.

The mission of Art Studio Inc, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is to empower young minds through the integration of creative holistic arts. Art-integration, mentorship, and the development of creative thinking are proven to increase a student’s long-term chances for success. Art Studio is taking action to change the “cradle to prison” scenario that is currently playing out for youth throughout the United States. Since 2007 we have focused our efforts to support our Haitian youth here in Miami, Florida by providing the tools needed to empower them towards successful futures.
